On June 15, 2023, the higher education major evaluation institution Shanghai Ranking officially released the “2023 Best Chinese Majors Ranking”. In the latest ranking, our School’s Ideological and Political Education major ranked 14th in China and was rated as Grade A.
Shanghai Ranking’s Best Chinese Majors Ranking was first published in 2021, covering more than 700 undergraduate majors in 93 major categories and having released more than 30,000 major centers. The ranking adopts the unique three-level professional competitiveness evaluation framework of college-discipline-major, and sets up the 5 index categories and 25 indicators of college conditions, discipline support, the major’s student source, the major’s students’ employment, and the major’s conditions. It dynamically monitor and evaluate more than 60,000 undergraduate majors at over 1,200 colleges. Currently, the Shanghai Ranking’s “Best Chinese Majors Ranking” has acted as a representative reference for students and parents to determine an undergraduate major, and also provides a factual basis for colleges’ construction and analysis of undergraduate majors. Since Shanghai Ranking released the “Best Chinese Majors Ranking”, the ranking of our School’s Ideological and Political Education major has continued to rise, ranking 22nd, 16th, and 14th in 2021, 2022, and 2023, respectively.
The Ideological and Political Education major takes the construction of a national first-class undergraduate major as its knob, and aims to educate talents for the country and the Party. Faculty members devoted great efforts to cultivate talents with love and genuineness, being committed to developing students into composite talents for ideological and political work with firm belief in Marxism, solid theoretical accomplishment, and outstanding practical capabilities. This ranking reflects the society’s recognition and support for the development of the Ideological and Political Education major of Southwest Jiaotong University, and also puts forward higher requirements for the major. In the future, the Ideological and Political Education major will take this recognition as an opportunity to uphold the University’s spirit of “Making unremitting efforts to cultivate talents and revitalize China”, improve the overall level of major construction, adhere to a first-class standard, and pursue glorious breakthroughs in major construction.
