On June 30, 2023, the “Unveiling Ceremony of the Scientist Spirit Education Base of SWJTU’s Contribution to Strengthening China & The Ideological and Political Education Seminar on the Integration of the CPC’s Spiritual Genealogy into the Campus” was held in Chengdu. Held on the occasion of the CPC and the whole nation’s in-depth learning and implementation of the themed education of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, the purpose of this event is to warmly celebrate the 102nd anniversary of the founding of the CPC. It is hosted by the School of Marxism of Southwest Jiaotong University and co-organized by “Leading Journal of Ideological & Theoretical Education”, “Studies on Marxist Theory”, “Teaching and Research”, and the 5.12 Wenchuan Earthquake Memorial Museum. Yu Minming, Secretary of the CPC Southwest Jiaotong University Committee, Yang Jianguo, Level II Inspector of the Department of Education of Sichuan Province, Liang Gang, Director of the Science and Technology Supervision and Integrity Construction Division of the Science and Technology Department of Sichuan Province, Li Mei, Researcher of the Research and Publicity Department of the Sichuan Association for Science and Technology, and relevant responsible comrades attended the opening ceremony of the event. More than 100 experts, scholars, and journal editors from all over the country in the field of Party history, Party building and ideological and political education, as well as relevant press participated in the seminar.
At the meeting, the unveiling ceremony of the Scientist Spirit Education Base of SWJTU’s Contribution to Strengthening China of Southwest Jiaotong University was launched. In May 2023, the “Scientist Spirit Education Base of SWJTU’s Contribution to Strengthening China” initiated by the School of Marxism of Southwest Jiaotong University was successfully jointly recognized by the 7 ministries and commissions including the China Association for Science and Technology, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the State-Owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and the State Administration of Science, Technology, and Industry of National Defense. As an important achievement in the construction of Marxist theory disciplines of Southwest Jiaotong University, the base is another crucial carrier for our University to seriously carry out ideological and political education and deeply practice “educating talents for the Party and the country”. On behalf of the Sichuan Association for Science and Technology, Li Mei read out the identification document of the Scientist Spirit Education Base. Amidst warm applause, Yu Minming, Yang Jianguo, Liang Gang, and Li Mei jointly unveiled the base. Afterwards, the launching ceremony of the official website and WeChat Official Account “Sichuan Patriotic Chain” of the Ministry of Education’s Ideological and Political Theory Course Integration Community among Universities, Middle Schools, and Primary Schools (Sichuan) was held.
After the opening ceremony, the meeting proceeded to the keynote report session.
Professor Wang Binglin, Director of Beijing Normal University’s Institute of Party History and Party Building of the Communist Party of China, published a report entitled “The Spiritual Genealogy of the Communist Party of China and Chinese-style Modernization” online. Researcher Yang Xiannong delivered an academic report entitled “The Long March Culture Route Is a Living Textbook for Constructing the Modern Civilization of the Chinese Nation”. Besides, Professor He Yun’an made an academic speech entitled “Research on the Spirit of Revolution Based on Oral History-Taking the Study on the Spirit of Earthquake Relief as an Example”.
After the keynote reports, the participating experts and scholars visited the Scientist Spirit Education Base of SWJTU’s Contribution to Strengthening China. During the visit, experts and scholars expressed their heartfelt admiration and respect for the excellent achievements of scientists developed by Southwest Jiaotong University over the past 127 years. The experts and scholars also spoke high of the scientists’ spirits of “patriotism, dedication, truth-seeking, innovation, collaboration, and education”.
In the afternoon of that day, the seminar was divided into three parallel forums. Professor Tian Yongxiu, Executive Dean of the School of Marxism of Southwest Jiaotong University, made a summary of the meeting, in which full affirmation was given to the fruitful results achieved at the meeting, and his gratitude was extended to the attending experts and scholars.
