On July 5th and 6th, the 2023 Summer Camp for Outstanding College Students of the School of Marxism of Southwest Jiaotong University was successfully held. The summer camp includes a campus tour, a tour of the School and the scientist spirit base, an introduction to the University history and the School, a teacher-student exchange, a camper report, and a one-to-one interview. After preliminary screening, a total of 25 outstanding college students joined this summer camp.
On the morning of July 5th, the School arranged campers to check in and register. In the afternoon, some masters students led the campers to take a tour in the campus, the School, and the scientist spirit base to learn and comprehend scientists’ patriotic, realistic, innovative and dedicated spirit. All campers were encouraged to live up to the expectation for youngsters in the new era and make their own contributions to the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
On the morning of July 6th, the opening ceremony of the 2023 Summer Camp for Outstanding College Students of the School of Marxism of Southwest Jiaotong University was successfully held at Room x31325. First of all, Professor Xie Yu, Deputy Dean of the School of Marxism, presided over the opening ceremony. Later, Tian Yongxiu, Executive Dean, delivered a speech on behalf of the School, in which she briefly introduced the development of the School and extended a warm welcome to the campers from various regions. Subsequently, Cui Xiaochen, a professional of the University history museum and Deputy Dean Xie Yu shared the history of Southwest Jiaotong University and the School of Marxism with the campers.
Then representative young faculty members including Teacher Li Shimin, Teacher Yang Weibin, Teacher Ma Xianrui, and Teacher Jing Xingwei introduced the various majors’ directions. Having listened to the detailed introduction from the faculty members, all campers had a deeper understanding of the direction of Marxist theory.
On the afternoon of July 6th, these faculty members were divided into two groups and conducted one-to-one interviews with the campers in the order of the list. The campers introduced themselves, reported on topics of research interest, and had in-depth exchanges with the faculty members. At last, in Room x31325, Deputy Dean Xie Yu presided over the closing ceremony, awarded the outstanding camper certificates to 14 students, and invited the students to actively apply for the School of Marxism of Southwest Jiaotong University.
This summer camp demonstrated the strength of our School with distinctive characteristics and coordinated development of multiple disciplines, enabling campers to have in-depth contact with faculty members and postgraduate students and fully experience the characteristics and advantages of graduate education at our School. Admist a warm atmosphere, the 2023 Academic Summer Camp for Outstanding College Students of the School of Marxism of Southwest Jiaotong University smoothly came to an end.
